When to Visit Miami
Climate

The city is next to the ocean, at the southeast end of the Florida peninsula, so the weather is warm all year long. The summer months are usually hot and humid, with frequent rains during this time of year, on the other hand, winters are dry. The hurricane seasons coincide with the humid ones, in summer. The heat attracts thousands of tourists every year, more frequently from October to April (winter in the northern hemisphere). If you enjoy outside sports and the beach, make sure you bring your bathing suit and summer clothes; you will also need suntan lotion and a good hat to protect you from the sun. Casual clothes are the norm, sun dresses, shorts or bermudas and jeans for the day. Some restaurants require coat and tie, but that is usually an exception.

Airport

The Miami airport (MIA) is one of the biggest airports and with most traffic of the world in the country and the world, due to the amount of people that pass through. It is the obliged pass way for tourists and natives of the city that travel to the rest of the world. There are approximately 30 million travellers and 417.000 departures and arrivals every year. The Miami airport has the main building and 8 different terminals that go from A to H, one new terminal (it will be called J), still in construction. There are many restaurants and shops. Some terminals are still being remodeled. It has all the facilities needed for renting cars and also short and long term parking, with convenient prices. There is a bank, exchange and many ATM machines. This airport presents another advantage, being so close to the city, so you can take a taxi and visit the city. If you are only passing through and never visited Miami, this is recommended.
